Hey! If you’re reading this, you are perhaps a coffee competition-minded person, which means that you may very well in Kansas City, Missouri next week for the United States Coffee Championships Qualifying Event. Sprudge will sure be there too, covering all the action from qualifiers and enjoying everything KCMO has to offer.
The competition event itself goes on each day at the Kansas City Convention Center beginning at 10:00 AM. We’ll have schedules for each day’s action up here on SprudgeLive (just as soon as we find all of your Twitter handles). For now check out everyone competing in barista comp and Brewers Cup over on the Sprudge main page.
There’s some rad event stuff happening nearly every night of the week—let us tell you about it!
A sold-out ticketed evening of panels and discussions around gender equality in specialty coffee. No, there aren’t more tickets, but Sprudge is filming the whole thing and putting it out for free following the event.
A panel featuring Lorenzo Perkins (Fleet Coffee), Jeff Taylor (PT’s Coffee), Corey Stipp (Quay Coffee) and Jordan Michelman (Sprudge.com) will debate the merits of multi-roaster coffee bars. Then we’ll get down to beats by DJ RADAMES, enjoy free snacks like pizza from Il Lazzarone, and drink some dranks from Boulevard Beer, 2nd Shift Brewing, and J. Reiger Whiskey.
A lubricated meet-and-greet, a unique hands-on experience, and an informational pleasure party rolled in to one, tidy, mid-day package. A chance to get away from the fumes of Conference Room B and over to nearby Lenexa to check out this collaborative co-share workspace with Maps Coffee, Boulevard Brewing, Thou Mayest, Torn Label Brewing, Hugo Tea, The LAB, Snow & Co., Modbar, and Alpha Dominche! If you’re not competing, you should be here.
This event sounds sweet. Cowtown Throwdown welcomes in coffee folk from across the land for a great big party in Morton Hall, the unbelievably sweet and gigantic space directly behind Oddly Correct Coffee Roasters. There will be a 48-person latte art throwdown, but also great vintage clothing for sale from Cable And Company, sweet vinyl by The Vinyl Underground, and free beer. Best of all it’s a fundraiser for Noah’s Bandage Project.
We’ll be back soon with more KCMO details, including a handy dandy updated dining and drinking guide and much more.
