World Of Coffee Budapest: Day Two Recap

Day Two has come and gone at the World Coffee Championships here in Budapest, Hungary, and we now know the finalists for the Brewers Cup, Latte Art, Cup Tasters, and Coffee in Good Spirits, all of whom will be giving it one last go tomorrow in hopes of being crown world champion in their respective discipline.

The Sprudge team has been bouncing around the four corners of the HungExpo building at breakneck speeds to bring you the sights and sounds from every competition stage. Covering these sort of multi-event coffee competition isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon… that you run at a sprint, and we couldn’t be happier to be here to keep you up to date.

Day Two has seen more than its fair share of thrills and spills. We saw the first on-site appearance of the always-flashy Coffee in Good Spirits competition, the only coffee event that we are aware of to feature a saber on stage, though unfortunately there has been no weaponry yet in 2017. We’ve watched as the Cup Tasters was whittled from 16 down to eight and then finally to the final four. We witnessed Odd-Steinar Tøllefsen vie for his second World Brewers Cup title (and third finals appearance). If we gathered the entirety of the Sprudge staff in Budapest to cover the event, we couldn’t count on all attendant fingers and toes the number of truly memorable moments that transpired here on Day Two.

But we’re going to try nonetheless. Here is a glimpse at some of our favorite moments from Day Two of competition at the 2017 World of Coffee Championships and a list of finalists going on to compete tomorrow.
